LEAGUE HISTORY

Norwell Little League was established in 1950 by Allan Hakanson. The Major League field bears his name "in honor for his untiring efforts in promoting Little League Baseball in Norwell form 1950 to 1965". Mr. Hakanson also served as the first president of the Norwell Little League.

The Minor League field is named for William Maritn. Mr. Martin served as manager and officer of the Norwell Little League from 1958 to 1979.

Woodworth Memorial Park is named for C. Allen Woodworth "in appreciation for his contribution to the quality of life on Norwell and his untiring support of youth recreation programs." Mr. Woodworth served as president of Norwell Little League from 1974 to 1979. He served as a coach in the program from 1971 to 1983.

In 2006, Norwell Little League marked its 50th consecutive year of continuous affiliation with Little League Baseball(c). Norwell Little League has received their Gold Certificate of Charter. It is proudly on display at the Snack Bar.
