Summer Travel Teams

Norwell Little League fields six summer league teams for players ages 9 - 12 and two additional tournament team for players age 8 and age 13/14.

To be eligible for any of these teams, players must participate in at least 75% of their regular season and play-off games.

Suburban League "All-Star" Teams

Norwell Little League fields All-Star teams at the 9, 10, 11 and 12 year old age groups. These teams consist of the 12 best players at each age group as determined by coach's evaluation based on the player's performance during the regular season.

To insure maximum playing time, the teams do not carry "alternates". As such, players are expected to make a commitment to the team, with no more than a week of scheduled absence due to vacations, etc... The teams are entered in the Suburban Youth Baseball League (SYBL), a very competitive league, and generally play other South Shore towns. The SYBL regular season schedule includes five home games and five away games, on week nights beginning in the last week of June through the first week in August. Teams placing in the top five of their division qualify for the SYBL tournament which begins immediately following the regular season.

In addition to the SYBL, each of the four teams plays in at least one tournament. The tournament schedule changes each year. More information will be posted once the 2010 tournament schedule is finalized.

In total, these teams will play at least 14 games and could play as many as 20.

South River League Teams

Norwell Little League fields a U12 and a U10 Summer League team. The teams are comprised of the top rated 11 and 12 year old players from the Major League (U12) and the top rated 10 year old players from the Minor League (U10) who were not selected to the respective Suburban League teams. Selections are made based on regular season performance evaluations and nominations by coaches in Majors and Minors respectively.

While not "all-star" teams, these teams are assembled to give the players at these age groups who narrowly missed that distinction an opportunity to continue playing, enjoying baseball and developing their skills in a competitive environment throughout the summer.

The rosters for each team are 12 players. To insure maximum playing time, the teams do not carry "alternates". As such, players are expected to make a commitment to the team, with no more than a week to ten days of scheduled absence due to vacations, etc...

The teams are entered in the South River League (SRL), a competitive, yet not overly intense league, and generally play other South Shore towns. The SRL regular season schedule includes five home games and five away games, mostly on week nights beginning the first week in July and running through the first week in August. A league playoff tournament follows the regular season.

In addition to the SRL, both teams play in at least one tournament. The tournament schedule changes each year. More information will be posted once the 2010 tournament schedule is finalized.

In total, these teams will play at least 14 games and could play as many as 20.

Williamsport Teams

Norwell Little League enters a "Little League" Williamsport team.

The Little League tournament team is comprised of the top 11 and 12 year olds in the Major League. These players also play on the Suburban League "All-Star" teams for their respective age groups. The Williamsport Tournament Team competes in the Williamsport Tournament. This tournament continues through tout the summer. The team will continue play until they are eliminated. Regional winners from across the country will compete in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

Selection of coaches and final rosters for each team are made at the sole discretion of the
Norwell Little League Board of Directors.
